The Delta Power Plant was originally owned by the Fairbanks Municipal Utility System (FMUS) and located on First Avenue near the coal-fired power plant on the Chena River (now known as Aurora Energy). When Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) purchased the distribution system from FMUS in 1997, this 27 megawatt (MW) power plant was part of the package. The power plant was relocated to the Delta Junction area in 2005.
